AgMagic Returns to Docville on March 19

Kids and families will be able to see, touch, and experience all things Louisiana agriculture at the annual AgMagic on the River. Students on guided field trips will visit the farm on March 16-18, and the festival is free and open to the public on Saturday, March 19, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.   The event is back live and in person after a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. COVID-19 protocols will be in effect to make sure people are able to maintain social distancing and are not in large groups.

AgMagic on the River is held at the Meraux Foundation’s Docville Farm (5124 E. St Bernard Hwy., Violet, LA 70092), which offers a world class educational facility in a rural setting just a short drive outside New Orleans.

Visitors will be able to touch live farm animals and participate in fun activities.

The goal of AgMagic is to teach grade school students all about the environment and agriculture of our communities. The interactive journey is designed for third through sixth graders and takes them through the important roles Louisiana’s forests, soils, crops, seafood and livestock have in our everyday lives.

The event is produced by the LSU Ag Center in collaboration with the Meraux Foundation, LA SeaGrant, and 4-H.

About AgMagic on the River
AgMagic is an educational experience where youth learn about the important connections between agriculture, the environment and their lives. AgMagic is designed for youth in grades 3rd-6th. School groups from the New Orleans area will be visiting AgMagic on May 8-11. On May 12 AgMagic will be open to the public. Volunteers are needed to serve as Exhibit Hosts. Volunteers will help facilitate the educational experience for youth and adults who visit AgMagic by presenting information to students and teachers at one of the stations at AgMagic.
