Education is central to our strategy for improving St. Bernard Parish, and it is incorporated in virtually every one of our programs.

Scholarships

Each year, we award 60 scholarships to St. Bernard Parish Public School Students, including 50 based on academic achievement, four based on artistic accomplishment, and six for vocational school.

Education Support

AgMagic on the River

Held each year at Docville Farm, AgMagic is an educational experience where youth learn about the important connections between agriculture, the environment, and their lives. The interactive journey takes students through the important roles Louisiana’s forests, soils, crops, seafood, and livestock have in our everyday lives. The annual event is produced by the LSU Ag Center in collaboration with the Meraux Foundation, LA SeaGrant, and 4-H.

Waters to the Sea® Mississippi River Delta Educational Initiative

To position St. Bernard as a center for delta-themed education, this initiative includes: a Mississippi River Delta Institute for educators, an interactive multimedia learning program, and a teacher exchange program between schools from the Mississippi River Delta and the Headwaters.

Arlene Meraux Elementary School

With the education of school children near and dear to our founder’s heart, we donated land to St. Bernard Parish Public Schools for the Arlene Meraux Elementary School as a place for generations to receive a quality education.

Championing the Arts

In addition to arts scholarships, we donated $1.8 million to develop the Cultural Arts Center of Chalmette High School, a world-class theatre that hosts Broadway-caliber productions. And to ensure the “show goes on,” we sponsor the St. Bernard Performing Arts Academy.
