Congratulations to the 2022 Meraux Foundation scholarship recipients!

The Arlene and Joseph Meraux Charitable Foundation continued its commitment to the community and public education when it awarded sixty scholarships to Chalmette High School’s Class of 2022 during this year’s Senior Awards Ceremony.

The recipients of its annual scholarship program represent an array of talent and academic prowess. The charity awards 60 scholarships each year: 50 for academic achievement, four for artistic accomplishment, and six for Career Technical Education (CTE). To date, the Meraux Foundation has awarded over 1,000 scholarships to St. Bernard Parish public high school graduates.

Rita Gue, the president of the Meraux Foundation, said these scholars represent all the good things in the public schools.

"Congratulations to the Meraux Foundation scholarship recipients. These young people represent the future of our parish, and we are proud of them," Gue said. "Our family foundation champions education as a central component of our mission and because it was a passion of our founder, Arlene Meraux. She was an advocate for quality education, and we honor her legacy and carry on her good work through this scholarship program."

Students receiving the Meraux Foundation scholarships are chosen by an independent committee designated by St. Bernard Parish Public Schools.
