Meraux Foundation Announces 2025 Scholarship Recipients
Foundation reaches new milestone with more than $3 million awarded to local students
The Arlene and Joseph Meraux Charitable Foundation awarded 61 scholarships to graduating seniors from Chalmette High School at the school’s annual Senior Awards Night on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at the Chalmette Cultural Arts Center Theater.
With the 2025 awards, the Foundation has now awarded 1,150 scholarships with a total value of over $3 million to St. Bernard Parish public school students.
“At the Meraux Foundation, we believe in the transformative power of education,” said Rita Gue, president of the Meraux Foundation. “By helping students pursue their academic and professional goals, we’re investing in the future of our community. We’re proud to support these inspiring young people and can’t wait to see all that they accomplish.”
Each year, the Meraux Foundation awards scholarships in five categories: academic achievement, artistic accomplishment, career and technical education (CTE), and, beginning in 2024, agricultural internships. This year, 70 scholarships were awarded—50 for academic achievement, 4 for the arts, 15 for CTE, and 1 for an agricultural internship—each valued at $1,000 per year.
Students receiving the Meraux Foundation scholarships are selected by an independent committee designated by St. Bernard Parish Public Schools.
