Meraux Foundation Presents Bayou Road Balloon Festival
The Arlene and Joseph Meraux Charitable Foundation is the presenting sponsor of the 3rd annual Bayou Road Balloon Festival set for Nov. 1-3 at the Frederick J. Sigur Civic Center (8245 W Judge Perez Dr, Chalmette, LA 70043).
“The Bayou Road Balloon Festival is a great opportunity for families from across the region to have fun and enjoy St. Bernard,” said Rita Gue, the president of the Meraux Foundation, which helped attract and retain the event in the parish. “The Meraux Foundation is proud to sponsor this and several marquee tourism events throughout the year, which are a shot in the arm to our local economy.”
The Bayou Road Balloon Festival will feature multiple hot air balloons, creating a spectacular “night glow” each evening along with tethered rides (weather & wind permitting). Additionally, the outdoor festival will feature carnival rides, games, food and beer, and arts and crafts.
Live music will be performed by Sweet Tea Trio, Jonathan “Boogie” Long, Blackwater Brass, Voodoo Gumbo, Nashville South, Delta Revelry, Epic, Christian Serpas and Ghost Town, Shawn Williams, Bayou Bullets, and School of Rock.
“We are excited to welcome families out for this year’s balloon festival, which is set to be the best one yet,” said Mike Zalaznik, who manages the festival for the New Orleans Home & Garden Show. “I’d like to thank the Meraux Foundation for their generous sponsorship.”
Festival hours are Friday from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday from Noon to 10 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 8 p.m.
Ticket prices are being kept low thanks to the generous sponsorship of the Meraux Foundation. Single day passes are $5 and passes for the entire weekend are $10. Tickets may also be purchased online at bayouroadballoonfestival.com/tickets with credit cards and at the gate during the event with cash only.
