Meraux Foundation Provides $10,000 in Funding to STEM Library Lab

The Meraux Foundation proudly announces the completion of a program it funded for the STEM Library Lab to provide education resources to educators to better serve their students in St. Bernard Parish this past school year. With a contribution of $10,000, the Foundation reaffirmed its commitment to fostering innovation and education in the local community.

"We are thrilled to have provided support to the STEM Library Lab in St. Bernard Parish,” said Rita Gue, the president of the Meraux Foundation. “By investing in STEM education, we are investing in the future of our community. This initiative embodies our belief in the power of education to shape brighter futures, and we're excited to see the enthusiasm and curiosity it ignites in our community's young minds."

The STEM Library Lab, an innovative project spearheaded by local educators and community leaders, used the funds to provide students and educators with access to cutting-edge resources and materials to enhance STEM learning experiences. From interactive experiments to hands-on activities, the lab has served as a hub for exploration and discovery, inspiring the next generation of scientists, engineers, and innovators.

"We are incredibly grateful for the Meraux Foundation's support," said Todd Wackerman, Executive Director of the STEM Library Lab. "Their generous contribution has enabled us to expand our programs and reach even more students in St. Bernard Parish. Together, we're igniting a passion for STEM education and equipping our youth with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in the 21st century."

The funds provided by the Meraux Foundation were used to purchase essential equipment, supplies, and materials for the STEM Library Lab, ensuring that students had access to high-quality resources that promote hands-on learning and exploration. Additionally, the Meraux Foundation's support helped facilitate outreach efforts and program development, allowing the lab to engage with schools, community organizations, and families throughout St. Bernard Parish.

St. Bernard Parish teachers engaged with STEM Library Lab programs, representing support for nearly 700 St. Bernard K-12 students. The Lab also launched Ready-to-Go service learning projects with Coalition for the Restoration of Coastal Louisiana, and Glass Half Full; and it hosted events which included CRCL and Nunez Community College representatives connecting their programs with local educators.

As a champion of education and innovation, the Meraux Foundation remains committed to supporting initiatives that empower individuals, enrich communities, and drive positive change. Through partnerships like the one with the STEM Library Lab, the Foundation continues to make a meaningful impact on the lives of residents in St. Bernard Parish and beyond.
