Meraux Foundation Announces 2016 Scholarships
The Arlene and Joseph Meraux Charitable Foundation announced it has awarded 60 scholarships to class of 2016 high school graduates from St. Bernard Parish to pursue post secondary studies. The Foundation awarded 50 scholarships based on academic achievement, four based on artistic accomplishment, and six for vocational school. This year’s scholarships brings the grand total of Meraux Foundation scholarships to more than 660 awards valued at some $1.9 million.
“I was inspired by the sheer number of honors students in this year’s senior class, and it makes me hopeful for the future of St. Bernard,” said Rita Gue, the president of the Meraux Foundation. “I would like to congratulate each of the students who received a scholarship, and I wish them the best as they pursue their studies.”
The Meraux Foundation Scholarship award recipients are chosen by an independent committee of educators.
