
Meraux Foundation Hosts Coastal Landowners Meeting
The Arlene and Joseph Meraux Charitable Foundation hosted a meeting on Jan. 10 to facilitate a dialogue on coastal restoration between dozens of landowners in St. Bernard, Plaquemines, Orleans, and St. Tammany parishes and representatives of more than ten coastal and environmental agencies.

Meraux Foundation Partners on Coastal Planting Project
The Arlene and Joseph Meraux Charitable Foundation partnered with St. Bernard Parish Government’s Office of Coastal Operations and the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry last week to collect Black Mangrove propagules that will be raised into trees and planted on barrier islands in Biloxi Marsh.

Meraux’s ‘Boo at the Barn’ draws 2,000 for Halloween fun
St. Bernard Parish was full of fall and Halloween festivities with school Fall Fests, pumpkin patches, a Trick or Trunk event at Sidney Torres Park, and Boo in the Barn event held at Docville Barn in Meraux. This was the second Boo at the Barn hosted by the Chalmette High School Key Club.

Meraux Foundation Welcomes Valiant Theatre to Studio Arabi
The Valiant Theatre and Lounge is slated to open in September within Studio Arabi, the newly established arts campus in St. Bernard Parish. A ribbon cutting ceremony will be held on October 8 at 5 p.m. Named in honor of a large crown that adorns the former pawn shop at 6621 St. Claude Ave., the Valiant Theatre will feature a full service, upscale bar and lounge in addition to a 120 seat theatre.

Meraux Foundation Hosts 2nd Annual Delta Institute
Dozens of educators from the headwaters of the Mississippi River in Minnesota and the delta in Louisiana are in St. Bernard Parish for the second annual Waters to the Sea® Mississippi River Delta Institute presented by the Arlene and Joseph Meraux Charitable Foundation on June 13-15, 2016

Meraux Foundation Donates Land for New School
The Arlene and Joseph Meraux Charitable Foundation donated land on Paris Road at the entrance to St. Bernard Parish to the St. Bernard Parish Public School Board to develop a new elementary school, which will be named the Arlene Meraux Elementary School. The new school is projected to open in August 2017 and is a response to the growing number of school-age children in the parish.
